What is space and place?

The theme for this project is Space and Place, this is a phrase that makes many think, though they are seen as similar space and place are two different things.

Space looks at the relationship between areas which are empty and occupied. What is in the given area? How much can you fit there?
Place looks at locations, positions and points in a certain area. A location with place can refer to ones home or countries abroad, however it can be refined to smaller, more detailed areas, narrowing things down.
The main difference between space and place is how place refers to the whole scene as one whereas spaces looks into the relationship between things that are in that scene, taking it apart and looking at how the scene is built up of single things and how they all come together. Throughout the duration of this project these are key things to keep in mind when taking photos. When thinking about how they are seen and thought about in photography one thinks about how space can refer to the empty space that is in an image and how it may or may not be balanced to the space which is occupied, though you will want there to be a balance and not to have the image too empty. Though the place that I will be photographing has been chosen; Wymondham I can refine this down with research and pick specific areas within the town to photograph.
